Ohhhhh my… talk about chocolate peanut butter heaven!

Deemed “Better Than Crack” Brownies - they are dangerously addictive.  I prefer calling them Three Layer Brownies because that’s what they are!  A bottom layer of fudgey, chewy brownies.  A middle layer of a mix of salty chopped nuts and chopped Reese’s peanut butter cups.  And finally, a top layer of chocolate peanut butter krispie treats.

I saw the recipe on How Sweet It Is and decided this was the perfect treat to make my Tumblr Eat Up buddy.  You know a dessert is going to be good when the recipe post on the food blog you found it on starts with an apology: “I’m sorry for doing this to you…”

“Better Than Crack” or Three Layer Brownies

1 batch brownies (boxed mix or any recipe for home made brownies will work)
1/2 c. salted peanuts
1 c. chopped Reese’s peanut butter cups
1 1/2 c. milk chocolate chips
1 1/2 c. creamy peanut butter
1/2 T. butter
1 1/2 c. Rice Krispies Cereal

Mix brownies according to directions, and bake for 20-25 minutes in a greased 9x13 baking dish. Remove and top with peanuts and peanut butter cups, and bake for 4-6 minutes more.

While they are finishing baking, melt chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter. Stir in cereal. Remove brownies from oven and evenly pour chocolate mixture over top.

Refrigerate for 2 hours before serving.

The worst part?  The refrigerate for 2 hours part.  It is a MUST because it’s the only way the chocolate peanut butter rice krispie layer will set.  But it is pure TORTURE.  Here you are, your kitchen smelling like fudge and peanut butter… and you have to wait HOURS before indulging!  :)

You have to try this recipe.  However, proceed with caution.  You can’t say you weren’t warned!!
